The Last Week
We’re still here. This is our final week. The anxiety of the finish line has faded away for us and we’re remembering that as soon as we are done with this we will miss it. We are considering selling the boat in a few hours and even that is making us pre-nastalgic. We met a man in Quincy, IL who had done some boating when he was younger (he is in his 70’s) and he informed us that this is the kind of trip we will always remember and when we get older it will be the story we can’t stop telling. I’m sure anecdotes and foibles will work their way into my conversations for a while.
As for the comments about getting jobs… know anyone who needs workers out in California? Just about anything will do. The more interesting it is, the less I need in the way of compensation.
Oh yeah, and the dolphins later told me that they don’t like Beethoven very much, preferring the levity of the later Baroque period.

If the man in Quincy’s name was Bill then he is no longer in his 70’s but is 80 - and does remember the good old days but even had to turn down Justus’ offer of a ride a little way down the river on account of old age. Justus took the direct route to New Orleans but hasn’t posted for a week so we have to wonder if he is safe. And if Max thinks those are dolphins, good for him, even if they are sharks! The almost hurricane is going up the Florida coast, must not be going to get you this time.

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t been able to keep up daily with your blogs. I’ve been a little busy with work, not having a computer at home, and, oh yeah, NOT moving to Boston. I visited last week and won’t be moving for quite a while, due to various complicated reasons. But I just got caught up on your adventures. Love the debate. Laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. And the “old downtown” was really depressing, but becoming incredibly common in small towns.
A few weeks ago I got my boss hooked on your videos. He’s got a similar sense of humor but was too busy navigating submarines in his twenties to have adventures like this. He loves you guys.
Stay safe in tropical storm Fay. You know how women can be real bitches sometimes. I miss you two.
Wow. For the entire first half of the episode I was screaming, “Why aren’t you in the water!?!? Max, if you don’t swim with those dolphins I will punch you in the face!” (Stef can attest to my consternation.) You, thankfully, did not let me down. My fist is happy, too.
