ABOUT

Bill Bowles is a 28-year-old film maker from San Francisco. He made his first travel documentary in 1991 on a family trip to London. He video-taped the exhibits inside the British Museum and brought the footage back to his sixth-grade history class where they were starting a unit on ancient Egypt. Since then the camera has often been at his side through many adventures. In 2006, he began experimenting with the 3-minute video blog format and has now produced over 150 short subject films in this style. Bill has always been in love with the outdoors, and with his own country… with The Big River Show he’s found a project that will allow him better access to both.

Max livingstone is 27 years old and lives in Berkeley, CA. The outdoors have always been important to him and this river trip is filled with it. He enjoys problem solving and he suspects there will be plenty of that. He has a sense of adventure and curiosity that drives him to travel, that’s clearly here. Also he fancies the way he looks in overalls and suspects this will be a good opportunity for that fashion.

Well thank goodness! My summer was beginning to look pretty bleak and Bill Bowles Blog-less–but I weep no longer! Ahoy, my friends!

I’d like to hear more about how you fixed up the boat. Considering you were staying at my house while you were doing it, I have no idea of the process you used to design it, etc. Stay safe, guys.

I’m with Doris — I’d like to hear more about the boat as well — to satisfy my curiosity as well as lower (raise?) the fear factor.

I’m a natural worry-wart who just loves it when people answer all my questions and PROVE that I’m worrying for naught.

Hey Max, Craig here, we met as I passed through San Fran after the PCT last year. Tyler just told me about your adventure. Great stuff. I’ll watch your vids when I get to a real computer. You should consider uploading to Seero.com, videos on maps would be great for your trip.

As much as I enjoy Bill’s creativity via videos, it would be interesting to know a bit more about Max here in the ‘About’ section.

Loving the trip so far, thanks for sharing your adventures :)

My friend and I bought a small sailboat in Orleans and motored up the Mississippi to our home in Chattanooga on the Mighty Tennessee River. We wish we were with you guys this morning drinking coffee in new territory. Good luck.
